Must Watch Movie: 'The Sun is Also a Star'

See the source image

Hi guys,

I saw ‘The Sun is Also a Star’ in the cinema yesterday, and I have to say it’s unlike any romantic comedy film I have watched before!

First of all the cinematography was STUNNING, and it showed New York as it’s not been seen before everything was photographed beautifully.

The main stars of the movie however are the two actors: Charles Melton (who people may recognise as Reggie from ‘Riverdale’) and Yara Shahidi (Zoey from ‘Black-ish’). Melton (who plays Daniel) and Yara (who plays Natasha) meet as a result of ‘fate’ as Daniel saves Natasha’s life as she nearly gets hit by a car. However, while Natasha is grateful to Daniel for saving her life, she is sceptical as he proposes an experiment to make her fall in love with him in one day.
Therefore, the rest of the movie sees Daniel and Natasha slowly fall in love, while she is struggling with the fact she may never see Daniel again as she might get deported.
This movie is not like your typical romantic comedy as  the relationship happens very organically, and doesn’t have the typical ‘romantic ending’ where the characters end up happily together in love. There are many twists and turns along the way, with both characters coming from similar backgrounds, and learning about themselves.

You will get very tense towards the end as you fall in love with both the characters and the storyline and you get attached to their relationship with each other and their families.
A huge twist will happen at the end, and makes you question ‘does fate actually exist?’

I definitely recommend you watching this movie, it’s such a fantastic piece of work, and it’s nice to see Charles Melton out of his Reggie role in ‘Riverdale’! If you love both actors, you’ll love this movie.

Netflix Must Watch: 'Trinkets'

See the source image

Hi guys,

It's been while since my last blog post, but trust me I have wanted to write about 'Trinkets' for a while. I binged it in one day and I can honestly say that I LOVED IT SO MUCH. Seriously, it's the best series I've watched on Netflix in a while; and that's saying something!  I've always watched films as I don't believe there are many good series on Netflix (I always want to watch many series, however, they're always too long, or, I watch 1 episode and become distracted and therefore don't get the full storyline).

However, with 'Trinkets', each episode is 30 minutes long, and the storyline is so gripping that you'll want to watch it ALL. You'll get so attached to the characters and their storylines. Literally, you get to see each character blossom and the assumptions you may have had from the first episode disperse as the episodes continue. You'll just want each character to be happy and content within their lives.

The storyline follows 3 girls (from different backgrounds) who attend the same school, but only get closer as they meet at a 'Stealing Anonymous' group every day.  Each character has their own issues and we get to see how these issues have impacted on their everyday lives. It also highlights how many people judge or assume how great someones life is, but as we get to see in one of the girls cases, it is not always true.

This series is spectacular as it has really good cliffhangers, a great storyline, great character development and I hope to God there is a Season 2 as I don't think I'll ever be able to live without knowing what's happened to the characters. I don't want to spoil ANYTHING for you, I just want you guys to watch it and enjoy!

Netflix Must Watch: 'Murder Mystery

Image result for murder mystery

Hi guys, it has been ages since I've last written a blog post. Thank God I've watched 'Murder Mystery', as that's what I'm going to be discussing today. Let's get stuck in shall we.

'Murder Mystery' was released on 14th June and it has taken me ages to watch, I have been doing other things, so I think that got in the way. However, I'd have to say that 'Murder Mystery' is a good movie.  I like how both Adam Sandler and Jenifer Anniston are playing a married couple (Nick and Audrey Splitz),  I mean if you've watched 'Just Go With It' you'll understand how much chemistry they have; furthermore, their comedic energy just works. I love them as a couple.
Anyway, back to the story, the main plot revolves around who killed billionaire Malcom Quince (involving family members). The way that Aniston's and Sandler's characters get invited to this family meeting is via Luke Evan's character called Charles Canvendish who's Quinces' nephew.

We meet other characters who are also suspects of the murder such as Gemma Arterton who plays Grace (an actress),  David Walliams who plays Tobais (Quince's son), Luis Mendez who plays Juan Carlos Rivaria (a formula one racer), Shiori Kutsuna (Quince's mistress/Canvendish's forma flame), John Kani (The Colonel), Adeel Akhtar (Maharaja) and Ólafur Ólafsson (Sergi ~ the Colonel's bodyguard).
However, things get a little complicated when other murders are committed and Audrey and Nick are constantly getting blamed for them.
They have to convince everyone they are not to blame for the murders, and doing that sees them owning up to the truth as well as working together.

Finally, I have to say that I absolutely loved how this was slightly comedic with a good plot line. I also loved the European locations the movie was filmed at. If you haven't watched this movie, I recommend that you do. Don't listen to reviews saying this movie isn't good, be curious and see for yourself. Only you can answer that once you've watched it. It's such an easy watch as well, enjoy!

Netflix Must Watch: 'Always Be My Maybe'

Image result for always be my maybe

Hi guys,

As soon as I saw this movie trailer on Netflix, I knew I had to watch it. I saved it in ‘my list’ category on Netflix as it hadn’t been released when I first saw the trailer. However, as soon as I came home, I forgot what was on Netflix as I was busy doing other stuff; so when I logged on I instantly clicked on it. Let me tell you. It is FABULOUS.
It’s so comedic, heartwarmingly precious and annoying at times, (you just want both characters to get together).

The plot focuses on Sasha (played by Ali Wong) and Marcus (played by Rendall Park), who were neighbours, hence growing up together.
However, they grow apart and we see what has happened to them as the story comes back to the modern day. Sasha, has become a Chinese chef who is looking to open up a San Francisco restaurant, while Marcus has continued to live in his dad’s house; working for his dad’s business, while also playing gigs in his spare time.

The rom-com storyline is very predictable as this is where they get to know each other again, and see where their lives have taken them. Falling in love with each other as they do. But, what I love about this is the fact that it’s so comedic and hooks you right until the very end because the plot is less than straightforward.
Furthermore, I love how great the soundtrack is and I love how it’s main characters are Asian. I love how the media are making movies to showcase the great Asian talent which seems to be becoming more and more eye-opening. I mean we have ‘Crazy Rich Asian’ and ‘To All the Boys’, which are also great movies; and seeing Asian actors/actresses in this light demolished the stereotypes once thought about them.

I hope you take the chance to watch this movie as it’s hilarious and worth the watch. Plus, a special guest makes an appearance, and to me this makes the storyline even more comedic. I totally recommend this movie to anyone who just wants a laugh, while it has got emotional scenes, the comedic scenes will make you cry with laughter!
It’s definitely worth the watch.

Must Read: 'The Summer I Turned Pretty'

Image result for the summer i turned pretty

Hi guys,

This is the first book I’ve read in a while, and thought I’d review it.

So here we go, ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ is a fictional romance novel written by Jenny Han. You may know her as her book ‘To All the Boys..’ was turned into a hit Netflix movie; staring Noah Centineo and Lana Condor.
I digress, but ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ follows the same plot line the way ‘To All the Boys’ does. The main protagonist called Isabel aka (Belly) is head over heels in love with Conrad who is the son her mother’s friend.
Every summer, Belly and her brother go to ‘Cousins’ a holiday resort and stay with Susanna and her sons (Conrad and Jeremiah).

During their summer breaks , Steven and Conrad have always made fun of Belly through brotherly banter as she is a couple of years younger than them. However, Jeremiah who is the same age as Belly has treated her as his equal.

The storyline focuses on Belly owing up to her crush on Conrad and looks at how she has built up a wall to deal with it. This book also focuses on how Belly grows up and develops a sense of realisation. This occurs as all the boys at the house make fun of her, however when she is outside of the summer house, boys begin to notice her; therefore her confidence and self-esteem grows from this.

While the book has a lot of elements of romance in it, this book also deals with issues of  death and grief. I felt like this really wasn’t touched on a lot, only towards the end of the book. Personally, I feel like it could’ve been dealt with better as I believe the stereotypical emotions took place in this book. If you want to find out what these emotions were, you'll discover what these emotions are as you read the book, since I don't want to give much away.

In my opinion, I believe the book was my cup of tea as I love books about romance; however I did find it a bit slow and annoying as Belly is confronted with overwhelming situations that she finds difficult to deal with at her young age. I might even read the sequels as the story doesn’t feel as though it has finished yet. I'm sure the plot will get better as the story picks up.

May Favourites

Here we go again! This month I feel that I haven't really watched much or tried many new things but here are my May favourites. My goal next month is to try new perfumes rather than just stick to my old fragrances. But anyway here is what I've been loving in May.

Beauty

I'm starting with beauty because I just felt like it and I feel like this section isn't too extravagant. However, even though I am saying this, there is one brand I'm loving; and that brand is Fenty. ALL my makeup products are slowly turning to Fenty as I just cannot get enough of Rihanna's makeup brand. Plus, I adore Rihanna so why wouldn't I buy her products?? I'm especially loving her highlighter in 'Whatabratt' and her matchstick in 'Unicorn' and you'll see why when I paste the pictures down below. Also, I'm loving her Summer range, the new 'popsicle' lipsticks are just lush.
My next beauty favourite is a perfume called 'Good Girl' by Carolina Herrera. This perfume smells so fresh but so musky, it's got to be my favourite perfume of all time; it's an everyday perfume, so you can wear it all day, at anytime . It's quite expensive, but I will definitely buy it again.

Fashion

I've only got two fashion favourites this month. I have been loving these Topshop wide jeans and blocky white trainers. I feel that I wear these ALL the time, and I feel that these  items are definitely staple items you should have in your wardrobe. Items will be linked in the descriptions so you can check it out or buy these products for your wardrobe. Side note; even though I have not been wearing this t-shirt often this month as I have only just bought it, I will also link the t-shirt brand down below.

T-shirt ~ offbeat.tees
Jeans ~ Topshop Wide Leg Jeans
Shoes ~ Misguided Chunky Trainers

Miscellaneous

I have been loving some new music lately as I have finally joined the Shawn Mendes bandwagon. I listened to his album 'Shawn Mendes' and had to buy it because it was too good not to. Thank you to some people who haven been telling me to join the Shawn Mendes fandom because it's honestly great. Also, I have been loving podcasts this month as I feel that they relax and motivate me.  I love listening to different topics and listening to other people's opinions on things. Down below I will give you an insight into my favourite podcasts this month. However, I would like to listen to more, so in the comments down below recommend  me your favourite podcasts, and I'll give it a listen.

Netflix Must Watch: 'Someone Great'

Image result for something great netflix

Hi guys,

as you know I've recently had exams so obviously I've been revising for those. But now I haven't, so it's time to binge watch everything I wanted to before going into these exams.

I wanted to start off these movie reviews by reviewing a film I have really wanted to watch. It's a romantic comedy called 'Someone Great'. However, it is not your typical 'rom-com', while it is funny it's juxtaposed with the grief of going through a breakup.
'Someone Great' is a typically girly movie, set in New York, and focuses on an aspiring music journalist (Jenny's) transition as she has been accepted at 'Rolling Stones' magazine and has to move to San Fransisco, as the job is there. Unfortunately, this causes her 9 -year relationship to end, which is truly heartbreaking to watch as we as the audience get to experience the trails and tribulations within the relationship.
Hint; certain songs and moments trigger her memories off, so watch out for those.

While we as the audience get to experience her relationship, there are two other subplots which are also included within the main plot; surrounding her two friends Erin and Blair. I will not spoil this for you as I truly urge you to watch it.

The wardrobe, cinematography and soundtracks which are used within the movie are basically a millennial's dream come true. Plus 'Someone Great' stars 3 amazing female actors: Gina Rodriguez (Jenny), Brittany Snow (Blair) and DeWanda Wise (Erin).

While the movie does not end on a typical 'rom-com' happy ending, Jenny's silique is definitely 'food for thought'. This movie is not about finding 'the one', but I personally think it is about growing up and feeling comfortable in your own skin without having a significant other beside you.

Hopefully you'll watch it, or you have already viewed  it. In the comments let me know your thoughts and favourite moments within the movie.

Until next time...

Must Watch: Fleabag

I asked you guys on Twitter and Instagram if you wanted this and most of you wanted the review so here it is! Can I just say how excited I am about writing a review about this, it ticks all my boxes: half an hour episodes, good cast and good plot line. I LOVED IT!!

I know it was released aggggeeesss ago, but I watched this due to a Youtuber's recommendation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPO0A_Pjrac) I've linked the video so you can watch it, but after hearing that review I knew I had to watch it. I also listened to Estée Lanlonde's podcast called 'On The Line' with Sammi Maria and she talked about watching Fleabag again. That's it I thought, you have to watch this programme due to the amount of good reviews on it.

So I watched it, I watched Season 1 on Amazon Prime, and I watched Season 2 on BBC iPlayer. While I binged Season 2 (I had to because it was SO good), I watched Season 1 within a couple of days. However, I didn't like Season 1 as much as Season 2 as I think the first Season is darker than Season 2. But I do recommend watching Season 1 beforehand so you get to know Fleabag's backstory as to why her life is falling apart.
Also, can i just talk about how hot the priest is in Season 2 , OMG he is to die for honestly! Furthermore, I like how his relationship with Fleabag grows over the Season, however it does end on a bittersweet ending!
I love the writing and I love how this was first a play and I wish I got tickets for Fleabag the play at the Westend, but I think it's now sold out (cue tears falling down eyes).

Even though it is on Amazon Prime, both seasons are on BBC iPlayer, and I hope they stay on there because it is such a good watch. If I could sum it up in three phrases  I would say: girl power, toxic relationships and learning to love yourself.

Finally, I just have to say that I'm considering watching Season 2 again because it's just so witty and heartbreaking at the same time, it is honestly the best thing on iPlayer. It's only 12 episodes in total (6 for Season 1 and 6 for Season 2) so it won't take you too long to watch, I mean it's only half an hour per episode, so you can watch it after revision or if you're relaxing.
I'll even start watching 'Killing Eve' as Phoebe Waller-Bridge (the actress who played Fleabag), wrote 'Killing Eve' so if you like 'Killing Eve' watch 'Fleabag' or visa versa.

I loved this show so much and it's so sad that it's ended.

Must Watch: 'Guava Island'

Related image

'Guava Island' is an exclusive short film that you can only see on Amazon Prime. The film features an all star cast from Donald Glover, Rihanna, Letitia Wright to Noso Anozie and was filmed secretly on a small island in Cuba.

I won't spoil this movie for you because it is definitely worth the watch, but what I will say about it is the cinematography is just stunning.  I loved the way the movie was shot, and I loved the vibrancy that was shown throughout the film. The director who shot this film was the same person who directed Childish Gambino's song 'This is America' which was a delight for the ears and eyes.
This film was a secret project that both Donald Glover and Rihanna had been filming as most people hadn't heard about it, unless you went to Coachella where it was streamed on Coachella's YouTube page and on Twich.

This is worth the watch as it will keep you mesmerised for the 55 minutes it is on, it is honestly a masterpiece, and features Childish Gambino's mainstream songs  e.g. 'This is America' and 'Feel's like Summer' as well as other less well known songs of his. However, this is only available to people who have Amazon Prime, so if you haven't got Amazon Prime , I urge you to subscribe because this is just a truly magnificent movie with a really good message, and a easy plot to follow.
If you haven't got Amazon Prime, see if you can still catch the movie on Coachella's YouTube page,  otherwise you'll miss out.

This is something I would not usually watch but because it has Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino and Rihanna, I knew this was going to be a good watch and I'm so glad I've seen it!

Netflix Must Watch: 'The Perfect Date'

Image result for the perfect date

'The Perfect Date' stars Noah Centineo, Laura Marano, Camila Mendes and Odiseas Georgiasdis. I watched this last week as I found out it was on as I follow Centineo on Instagram.  When I watched it, I fell in love with the cast and the storyline. I feel that Noah and Laura had brilliant chemistry considering they worked together years ago in Austin and Ally. If you've been living under a rock, yes, Noah was the cell phone shack owner.

However, if you haven't seen 'The Perfect Date' it has got a similar plot line to 'To All The Boys'... which is another Noah Centineo movie. If you liked 'To All The Boys' you will love this movie too. Personally, I believe this movie is better than 'To All The Boys' because in my opinion this storyline has more development for Centineo's character (the male protagonist) to grow and learn from his character's mistakes.

I don't want to give you any spoilers so I'm going to end this blog post here and now. I definitely recommend that you should watch this if you loved TATBILB, or if you liked the trailer and are curious to see how the movie pans out.

Let's Talk About: Five Feet Apart

Related image

'Five Feet Apart'... where do I begin? I'll start by giving you a brief summary of the plot, now it will be very brief because I don't want to spoil this movie for you guys as I want you to watch it.
This movie is basically about two teenagers who fall in love but the sad thing about this particular love story is that they both have Cystic Fibrosis, meaning they cannot touch each other, they must stand six feet away from each other at all times. This way they cannot infect each other with bacteria. However, Stella (played by Haley Lu Richardson), thinks this rule is absurd, so as she's lived with CF all her life; she decides to take control of CF, trashing the rule, and making up her own rules,  hence the title 'Five Feet Apart'.
I feel like I've summed this plot to a tee here. However, I am going to say that this movie is really intense so bring some tissues along to the cinema when you go and see it.

The reason why I love this film is not just because of Will (played by Cole Sprouse) but Oh My God, I could literally look at him all day. He is art and he knows it as well! I digress....
But I do love this movie as it is a very tender movie to watch and if you're like me, a total romantic you will love this movie as it's just so emotionally bittersweet. I cannot tell you how much I love it, I would watch it again as I feel like I haven't gotten over the ending and I need to hysterically cry as it was beautiful. I definitely recommend this movie,  for me this was like 'The Fault in Our Stars' but more intense as it got me emotionally attached to the characters. I feel like as I'm older than I was when I watched 'The Fault in Our Stars' I understand the depths of love the characters felt for each other.

'Five Feet Apart' is a movie you can see with your boyfriend/girlfriend,  your best mates or even with your mum.  This movie gives a good message as it's all about touch and attachment. The monologue at the end highlights how important touch is and how touch intensifies a relationship, without touch, individuals do not know how to express their feelings.

This movie has everything in from Cole Sprouse being the angsty boy you'll fall in love with to coverage and importance of understanding how living with Cystic Fibrosis affects peoples relationship. It even explores issues like death, and grief. This movie has every component which makes this a good movie, and I will say that this has got to be my favourite movie of this year.

Hopefully, they will do a sequel of this movie as there are so many unanswered questions.
I hope you go and watch this, or if you have watched this movie comment down below your favourite parts. I may be biased but I can't pick, I loved this movie so much.

Netflix Review: Isn't it Romantic

Image result for isn't it romantic

I know its been a while since I've written some blog posts. I've had assignments and essays, plus these last few months have been difficult  so that's why there is lack of posts. However, today I will review something that I have saw ages ago with my friends. (End of exam celebration evening which included pizza and watching this movie).

I want to start off by saying, although I watched this movie, some bits of it I can't remember as I have only watched this once. Fortunately, I did watch most of the film to have a rough idea what this movie is actually about, so here goes.

'Isn't It Romantic' is a movie starring Rebel Wilson as 'Natalie' a girl who has always believed that there are no such thing as happy endings, this was told to her by her mother while she watched 'Pretty Woman' as a child.
Now grown up, Natalie works in an office where she struggles to take control, even her client Blake played by Liam Hemsworth believes she is the coffee girl. However, as she finds her 'Blake' attractive, Natalie cannot help but tell her colleague how she will never be attractive to men like that as she believes she is not the regular stereotypical woman that men fall for.
While she is doing this, she heavily criticises rom-coms as she believes they are all rubbish, since nobody really acts like that in real life.
Unfortunately, for Natalie when she returns home, something happens to her which results in her living in her own 'fairy-tale' (a romantic comedy).
However, things are not all they seem.. she gets the guy (Liam Hemsworth) but learns some valuable lessons along the way which show how unhappy she is. She realises she loves someone else, and tries to turn back time to her regular lifestyle. She does eventually do this, and loves herself more, while also responding to the person she likes who has always liked her in the first place. She has just never realised it.
Which just goes to show some things are worth pursuing.

In regards to the film, this film is funny, got an all star cast and is a great film to watch with the girls/friends. The message behind the movie is good too, don't always believe what you see in romantic comedies as people do not act like that in real life; and I love how this movie shows the audience this by making it a parody.

Comment down below if you've seen the film and liked it, also tell me what else you would like to see on this blog.

Let's Talk About: 'thank u, next' (Album)

Image result for ariana grande album cover thank u next

Hi guys,

today I am going to be reviewing something which I cannot stop listening to, I even stayed up at 5am to listen to the album before anyone else could. I love it so much and now that the album 'thank u, next' has been released I regret not getting tour tickets (they sold out) or even going to Coachella (I have Uni then) 😞

So without further ado: here is what I think about the album:

My favourite songs on the album are: 'fake smile', 'ghostin' and 'makeup'. I love these songs as they are all different genres of music, fake smile being a pop single with a hint of R&B, while ghostin is a pop ballad expressing a biographical account of her experience grieving over her ex boyfriend Mac Miller who died of an accidental drug overdose last year.  On the other hand 'makeup' is an upbeat song which you can jam out to with your girlfriends.

However, all the songs on the album have a different story to tell and while these are in my top three, all the songs on the album have a different layer of Grande which she shows to the world, she is not one dimensional she has many different layers which can only be explored if you listen to her songs on a much deeper level. I have not stopped listening to this album all week and when I have tried to detach myself from it, I tend to end up listening to it over and over again.

I wish the album was longer as I would have loved to listen to more of Grande's songs, I first listened to it on BBC Radio One at 5am and could not believe she wrote these truly amazing tracks, I was gobsmacked as  ALL of the tracks were equally as good as one another. I love how she's used friends and families conversations to introduce the tracks as this makes it more intimate and personal to Grande. I'm glad that she's released the album out to the audience and I am glad we no longer have to wait as this is her best album yet.

I'm still disappointed that I couldn't get tickets as I believe this concert would have been her best.

January Favourites

Image result for these are a few of my favorite things

As January is FINALLY ending, (it seems to be going on forever), I thought I would share some of my winter favourites. These include things I've worn, listened to and watched.

Programmes/Films

Since it has been cold outside I have not been going out as much and have instead watched multiple programmes on Netflix. However, if I have gone out, It would have been most likely to  watch a film with my family as I came home from University for Christmas. These are the shows/ films that have been my absolute favourite things to watch.

  • 'The Good Place' (only just recently started watching it and so far so good). You can view it on Netflix or Channel 4 as I know they have recently just started showing episodes. It's about this woman who has been sent to 'The Good Place,' however she should not be there, the series explains how she succumbs and becomes a good person in the afterlife.
  • Glass ~ The film is about three men who think they have superpowers, however the institute  they are in have been brainwashing them into believing their powers do not exist. These three men have to make people believe that they do in fact have superhero powers, and how the institute has not worked.

Music

I only have one music favourite because I could not stop listening to it! I kid you not, I've watched the video on repeat and when the song was released I swear the song was literally the only thing I listened to on that day!!

7 Rings ~ This song, uugghh, what can I say about this song, it's just awesome. I love the pink Japanese aesthetic Ariana Grande has going on, and I love the fact that she has many genres in this song such as R&B and pop. She even raps a few verses as well. I love this song and cannot wait to get her album I have already pre-ordered it!

Fashion

Fashion has always been important to me, but I made a resolution on the 1st of January that each day I would wear a killer outfit. I ordered from Misguided and bought a few things from Topshop to help me feel like each outfit I wore stood out, so without further ado I will share some of my favourites that I have loved wearing.

I have linked every item of clothing for you so you can check out my favourite pieces for yourselves.

Hope you enjoyed this post

P.S. What have your favourite things in January been, comment down below.
